I think they are so beautiful, and I love all the different colors, shapes, and varieties that we see. Thinking about this, I came up with this Easy and Cute Fish Tank Craft. Your kids will have so much fun with this activity. They will be busy cutting, coloring, and gluing. PLUS, there is also a free template that I personally designed and put together just for you! I had so much fun while I designed this craft! I loved all the fishies I created, along with the castle and the octopus! There are so many skills your little ones will get to practice with this project. Are you ready? Let’s Daydream Into Reality!
Materials
Very easy, and you might have them on hand.
Printer Fish Tank Craft template (Download below) Colors, crayons, or markers. I personally love these Crayola ones. If you print the black and white. White Artboard or Cardstock paper for the tank. Blue and White washable kids’ paint. Paintbrushes Blue Colored Paper (In case you don’t have cardboard and washable paint) Scissors and Glue
Step 1
Get your Fish Tank Craft Printable (Download below) This is what you’ll get 🙂 Depending on your resources and time, choose whatever you like the best or use a combination of both. I printed the color one.
Step 2
You want cardstock because you are going to paint it. Normal paper would get kind of flabby, and the project wouldn’t look that cool. However, you are welcome to try. It’s your project, and you should do whatever you decide is best! I used 2 tonalities of blue and some white strokes at the end for painting. I also combined the paint with a little bit of water so it would look more like a watercolor painting. Do this first so it has a good time to dry before gluing the little fishies. If you don’t have cardstock or washable paints, you can also use blue paper, which should do the trick!
Step 3
If you print the black-and-white printable, color the fishies and the tank decorations and cut them. Help your child cut; there are many fishies there! You can also do a smaller tank. The point of a craft is to enjoy it, and sometimes, it can be overwhelming if there is too much to do. That’s why I like giving you as many options as possible.
Step 4
Glue the little figures to the craft. I used glue sticks because sometimes, normal glue can ruin the color of printed designs. Call me crazy, but I like perfection. TIP: Use this little trick to give some fishies and decorations a 3D effect your kids will love! Cut two thin strips and glue the tips. Then start overlapping them (like a braid), and when you have your desired height, glue them together at the top! As you can see, I used this technique on the octopus, horse, starfish, and castle! It’s optional, but it looks so stinking cute!
Step 5
Finish gluing all of the things on the Tank! And your project is complete! Take this time to share with your kids or students! I love asking them things after I am done with a project. Here are some questions!
